Travel is a passion of mine.
For as long as I can remember, our family has taken vacations together. As a kid (and even now), it's not so much about how extravagant the trip may be, but the memories made on the trip. The first vacation I can recall was when my sister was a baby...mom and dad took me for a weekend getaway to Santa Claus, IN. I vividly remember swimming in the hotel pool and a little about Holiday World. The story I have heard most from this trip was not actually about the trip, but the fact that my sister started pulling herself up to stand and walk while we were gone. ha
Road trips were always a staple of our family time. I still enjoy a good road trip if my travel companions are agreeable (cause I've had some that were NOT). I really love to fly. My first flight was on a 30 minute plane ride from Indianapolis to Chicago. Some of you may ask why anyone would actually pay to make that flight...and I am grateful to say that as a member of my school's Jr. National Honor Society, I had a teacher that believed in showing kids a new world that was out there for them to explore! For most of us it had been our first time flying and traveling. Ever since then, I have loved to travel even more.
Now that I am an adult, it is fun to see my mom enjoying travel just as much as my sister and I. Our yearly trips have become slightly more exotic in location, but we still love a quick trip to Gatlinburg, TN just as much as we did years ago. It is now commonplace for any one of us to dart off on a pilgrimage by ourselves. It is amazing to see a change in our confidence and ability to survive on our own when we travel.
It has been said that every journey begins with a single step....oh how I've loved the steps that have led me to the adventures of travel!
