Family Pictures

Here's a little sneak peek at our family photo for this year's Christmas card...this is not the one we're using, but it's very similar. I have a really nice DSLR, so we got dressed, walked outside into the yard, had mom take a few snapshots for us and I took a few more of just the kids, then we called it a day. CHEAP and easy! ha I would have loved to have had a professional photographer take some shots, but since we're pretty low on the extra funds, this was a good compromise. Not to mention we've taken our own photos for some time on when it comes to Christmas cards! ;)

This wasn't the color combo I had in my mind at all...but it ended up being last minute due to weather and the colors popped against the dreary gray day. Win-win, folks!

I will reveal some of the other "keeper" shots after Christmas...we are using some of them as gifts and don't want it to get leaked! haha

You can however see a few outtakes of an attempted shot with our puppies....FAIL.

And then because Jordan had a friend spend the weekend...we didn't wanna exclude her, so the girls took a few pictures together.

One of the Reasons...

One reason we've been so busy is that we've been trying to spend time with Eric's maternal grandmother. She has been sent home from the nursing home to spend the last of her days with hospice care. As you all know, just the mention of hospice is generally quite depressing. For approximately the past month, Eric's mom, 1 of his aunts, his sister and 1 of his cousins have been taking turns staying with Mamaw and providing her round-the-clock care. She has nurses and aides who come a few times a week to help with showers and just helping make sure she is comfortable.

Mamaw has her good days and bad. Unfortunately here lately, the good days are few and far between. She has throat cancer and there is just nothing else they can do for her.

This first picture is Mamaw back in May on our wedding day. this was before all the medical problems which started in June

And this picture is from the day she moved home with hospice care.

One of the small joys we've had is that she keeps requesting my pumpkin pie. ;) Mamaw isn't really supposed to eat things by mouth, but the doctor said it was okay to let her have little bites and help her enjoy her days. She has a feeding tube in her stomach. Needless to say, we have taken a few pumpkin pies to her. ha I believe her helpers enjoy it as much as she does!

For now we're all saying prayers for Mamaw Mary and spending time with family.

Almost a Month & a DIY

Whoops! It's been almost a month since I last posted. *hangs head in shame*

So sorry friends. Life just happens and before you know it, time has flown by. It's sad really, especially since I have been keeping up on reading all of your blogs, I just haven't had time to do anything with mine.

Not even sure where to start as there have been lots of things going on around here, but some of it will have to wait until another day. I hope to have a good outcome to reveal to you in the next month or so, but for now it's just best not to share. And yes, I will share even if it's not the solution we hope for.

Most importantly...we remodeled mom's bathroom...aka the ONLY bathroom in our house! Eek. It was a big undertaking, more so than we had planned for, but the end result turned out quite well. I'll let the pictures do the talking, but never will I offer to help do something like that again and a week is a long time to go without showers/bumming showers at other people's homes. ha

You'll have to look at pictures to understand...also, the bathroom is extremely small, so it was impossible to take a picture of the entire thing in one shot.

the original bathroom - we're guessing 1940's or 1950's

bye bye tub...this resulted in metal/dust poisoning for Eric for a night

goodbye to most of the carpet, hello linoleum by the shower

the new look - including a shower stall!
