Day 153

I haven't talked about my Kindle in awhile...but I tell ya, I use it ALL the time. I read every day during my lunch (it's only 20 minutes but I read the entire time!) and I try to read at least 1 night a week. Tonight I am charging my Kindle. Can't remember the last time I actually had to do that! I love the battery life!! :) So here's to more happy reading! (I usually download the FREE Bestseller books on Amazon's Kindle List, but if one is really good and I'm hooked on the series, I'll buy the rest! ha)

Day 152

On Monday of every week I go to my second job. I have been doing payroll & accounts payable for an excavating company for the past 2.5 years. Matt is like a big brother to me because he used to work for my dad & uncles when he was in high school...in other words, we go way back! Ha It doesn't take me very long each week, but it's a little extra spending money each week. The guys that work for Matt are a lot if fun. ;) I really couldn't ask for a better part-time gig!

Day 151

This morning on my way to work, the Cruze hit 13,000 miles! Argh! I can't believe I've only had my car for 10 months and already have 13,000 miles (especially considering that I drove it off the lot with only 3 miles on it!). Oy.

please ignore the fact that I was driving while taking this picture ;)

Tonight I was excited to come home from work and find not one, but two packages from Scentsy waiting on me! I love surprises!! :) I met my goal of becoming a Level 3 Consultant by the end of my starter period, so the first package had my certificate and lapel pin for that achievement. In July, I also met the Sales Award level, so the second package had my certificate and the Scentsy charm bracelet with the sales charm. It is super cute and I can't wait to wear it out! What an awesome company!

On another note concerning Scentsy, if anyone would be willing to have a catalog party for me, I would LOVE to send you a small package with scent samples (including return postage), catalogs, and order forms. I would also set up an online party for you on my website (www.savorthescent.com) so that if any of your friends/family don't live close, they can go online to order. I have a BIG scary goal...I'm working to earn the all-inclusive dream trip to Hard Rock Hotel, Punta Cana, Dominican Republic! It is a week long dream trip with the other Scentsy trip winners. I have a goal to earn the trip for myself and a guest (my mom!). The products sell themselves and you get lots of great half price and free items for being a hostess! If you'll help, please email me at emenchhofer@yahoo.com :) (I'm not too proud to beg for help!!)

Days 148-149-150 Playing Catch Up!

Lots to catch up on from the weekend!

For starters...I weighed in on Thursday night since I wasn't going to be home and able to use my scales on Friday morning. I was happy to see that I had lost 1.4 pounds! :) My next "deadline" goal is to have lost a total of 75 pounds by the end of the year. So, I have 23.4 pounds yet to lose in the next 4 months. Gotta keep buckling down!

This weekend, mom traveled with me to Kansas City, Missouri for a Scentsy training day with my upline. It was a blast!! Lots of driving, but very worth it.

On Friday morning, we left Indy at 7am and cruised on 70 West until we hit Blue Springs, Missouri (the actual location of our hotel)! It took us about 8.5 hours with a few stops along the way. We checked into the hotel and enjoyed some time relaxing in the whirlpool and swimming in the pool! After we got cleaned up, we decided to make the drive to Topeka, Kansas (we'd never been to KS before) and have dinner at a brewery we found on the internet. haha It was worth the drive! Saturday, I spent a majority of the day with my Scentsy sisters (& brothers) being trained by some of the top Scentsy consultants/directors in the country. It was awesome! I love this business! That evening, we drove into Kansas City and had dinner at an unbelievably good restaurant. One of the front desk girls suggested Jack Stack as her absolute favorite BBQ in the area, so we went there and it did not disappoint!! The food melted in your mouth...and the desserts were to die for! YUM! I also enjoyed some more craft beer. ;) When we got back to the hotel and our bellies were rested, we relaxed in the whirlpool. This morning we got up early and made our way back home. It took us about 9.5 hours, with stops, to make it all the way back to southeastern IN. Not too shabby. We are definitely ready for the next trip, but so thankful to be home to our own beds...and not be riding in my car!! haha

Here are some pictures to recap the weekend...sorry they aren't in order, I have some from my cell phone & some from my camera. ha

Day 145

Tonight after my workout I decided to clean my car. I should have taken a before picture because it was a mess! Ha I used armor all wipes on the dash & doors. I went to town & used the vacuum on the floor boards & seats. Now I just need to run it through the car wash Thursday night. This weekend I am driving to Kansas City, MO for a Scentsy training conference with my upline. Super pumped to meet everyone! Mom is gonna ride along & hang out at the hotel. She's never been past St. Louis in a car so she's looking forward to it, but I have even though it's been MANY years. :)

See ya later, mom! The last few nights have been pretty nice so we have enjoyed sitting on the deck. Toby loves getting to go outside & run...he doesn't sit still long enough for me to snap a picture. Haha

Day 142

Saturday I spent a second day at our Santa's Summer Gift Shop. I had lots of great sales and new customers, so hoping for some more great months ahead as I work to earn the Scentsy All-Inclusive Dream Trip to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic! I really wanna go...and would love to earn enough points to take a guest! :)

Weigh-In

I was kinda nervous about weigh-in today...not because I had a bad week with food or exercise, I didn't. It was because I am bloated and miserable....ugh, why do women have to suffer each month? ha

I am HAPPY to report that I lost 1 pound this week and have officially lost 50.2 pounds total!! I was of course hoping to hit this goal 3 weeks ago, but am pleased with my weight loss so far. Lots more to go, but I'm up for the challenge!

Time for me to exercise and get ready. I got to sleep in 2 hours this morning!!! :) And I must've really needed it because I didn't even hear my alarm, it was the back-up alarm that went off (which usually only happens when I forget to turn it off!).

Enjoy your weekend friends!

Day 140

This afternoon, my lil baby & I were lazy. We took a nap (much needed) & layed on the couch. Tonight half our Open House group set up for the weekend. I'm so glad to gave that done & not have to stress over it tomorrow!

Better get to bed so I can get moving in the morning, but no work for me, so I do get to sleep in an hour or so! :)

Day 138

Yay! Our ad made the paper today! Isn't it funny how small things excite you as an adult?? ha

This weekend, I am hosting an Open House via "Santa's Summer Gift Shop" with my cousins and friends. It started out with 2 of us and quickly grew to 5! I am very excited about it and hoping for a great turnout! If you are in southeastern IN and want to stock up on some of your favorite brands, feel free to stop by! ;)

Day 137

Well friends, I have come to the decision to no longer sell Mary Kay. It's a sad day as I have been a consultant for over 8 years! I am having a mega sale on everything I have left on my shelves...so if you are interested, email me at emenchhofer@yahoo & I'll send ya the list.

Day 136

I am trying to change up my workout routine and after lots of fitness articles, I have decided to try the kettlebell. Today I bought my first kettlebell and did a workout. I can already tell I changed up my routine! haha Love it. :) Hopefully, I'm not hurting too bad tomorrow!?!

Does anyone else use a kettlebell? If so, what are your thoughts/results??

Day 135

After a late night last night...and a somewhat early morning (so I could exercise before the day started), I am back home.

Today, I went to Indy to spend the day with Jen. We were going to attend the Taste of the Trucks in Broad Ripple (food trucks in Indy were all meeting at the same place), but when we got there...the lines were ridiculously long! No place to park. Mass chaos. We decided we didn't want to wait in the heat, so we cruised on down to the fairgrounds to take in a day at the State Fair. The parking there was also insane, as for the first time in my life, they had EVERY gate marked "Hangtag or Handicapped Parking Only." WTH?!? There were tons of empty parking spots around the inside of the fairgrounds and lots of unhappy fairgoers! We ended up paying $5 to park and walking across the street to the fair. We took in some fair food and then sat through the 2 hour Cousin Brothers show at the Ricker's Main Street Stage. We were under a tent, so the shade was slightly cooler than the sun! It was a lot of fun...the group is funny, but very talented. (Jen knows the band & has been to many shows.)

We walked through a few more barns and then headed back to her apartment after running a few errands. I made my way home and am quite glad we didn't have plans to attend the Sugarland concert. If you haven't heard...the State Fair had quite the MESS tonight. The stage collapsed. Early reports show at least 4 people dead and approximately 45 injured. We had friends who skipped the concert because of the threat of bad weather. Luckily, we've heard news from just about everyone we know who was there and all are safe. It is going to be a very ugly situation for the fair before all is said and done. I know most of the fair staff and I can imagine the nightmare they are currently living (not to mention the concert-goers). Say some prayers!

Day 134

For a sports loving family like mine, it doesn't get much better than FREE tickets to see some of our favorite teams! It's even better when the free tickets are AMAZING seats!

Each year, the company I work for gives each employee one set of tickets to the Cincinnati Reds. Our work has season tickets and has for several years....so the seats are pretty spectacular. We get 4 tickets and a parking pass. Not too shabby!

Last night was the night for my tickets. I took mom and Jenna...my cousin, Zach, was supposed to go as well, but he had to cancel due to work. :( We were right behind 1st base. And yes, we were only 5...count it...FIVE rows off the field!! STELLAR! :)

To make the night a true experience, the Reds actually won! If anyone follows baseball, you'll know that we all had high hopes for the Reds this year after their rockin' performance last year. Unfortunately, they can't seem to get it together. They've not won more than 3 games in a row all season. Argh! The talent is there which makes it all the more frustrating. haha The game was cruising along although it seemed certain there was going to be another L in the Reds column...when the San Diego Padres decided to do something really stupid...they walked Joey Votto on purpose (even though he'd been having a crummy hitting night) with Jay Bruce up to bat next. Are you kidding me?!? Long story short, Bruce knocked a homer outta the park!!! The crowd went cRaZy!! Reds got 3 back across home plate and locked up the win. :)

Here's a few pictures from our girls night out at the ballpark!

Rosie Redlegs running on top of Reds Dugout...yep, we were that close!

Definitely not a full house like the last game we went to, but still fun

WW Update

5QF is on a break this week since the creator is on vacation. We all deserve a little hiatus from time to time! ;)

Just weighed in and I lost another 1.2 pounds! I am .8 away from having lost 50 pounds! This last 5 pounds has been a real struggle. Hopefully the plateau I was experiencing is over and I'll be back to losing my excess baggage on a steady basis again! ha Good news is that I am at my lowest weight since probably junior high, maybe early high school years. It feels awesome and will only get better!!

Thursday, August 11, 2011

Day 133

All of you know (or should know by now) that I have been doing Weight Watchers Points Plus since the middle of January. I am down 48 pounds with my next weigh-in tomorrow morning.

One of my "diet" pleasures has been Skinny Cow ice cream....and now...they have candy!!! It's all really good! Tonight I tried the candy for the first time and it's a delicious little treat. It's nice to know there are companies out there working on healthier, more portion-controlled size foods and snacks. :)

On a side note, I'm happy to report that Toby didn't get sick any more last night...so I really think he just ate too much. He sometimes scarfs his food down and last night he was being a little piggy! ha Also, mom spent another half day at home from work and the swelling seems to have gone down a bit. The pain pills are at least keeping her from hurting, so she can sleep.

Wednesday, August 10, 2011

Day 132

It all started so well...temps are more reasonable and the sunrise was very pretty over the cornfield! Then it started to take a turn. haha

My mom has a tooth infection (again) and her face is majorly swollen from the antibiotics trying to get rid of the infection. When she takes the pain pills, it makes her sleepy, so she ended up spending half the day at home. I think I have her convinced to take one more day off. Her boss is at work yet tomorrow, but then gone from Friday until at least Monday, I think. I told her she better rest while she can!

Toby threw up again tonight. Not sure why. It's not the same as the last episode. I am hoping he just ate too much too quickly and his little belly was upset. :( He is snuggled beside me right now. Hopefully he'll feel better in the next few hours.

Work has been crazy. My boss is on vacation and we're preparing for our ISO recertification next week. Kind of a bad time for a vacation! Argh.

Day 131

Do you get annoyed by the beeping & flashing weather updates on tv? I do! Argh. I love storms & don't get bothered by bad weather, but the constant tv warnings bug the heck outta me!

Day 129 - State Fair

There truly is nothing like a fair, especially a State Fair! I guess it's in my blood. My parents took me to my first State Fair when I was 4 days old!?! I think they were nuts. We saw several itty bitty babies today...and all I could think was, why would you torture yourself like? haha

Anyway...on to the day...

We parked in the infield and made our way up to the main track. We wandered through several buildings (first stop being the FFA Pavilion!) and stopped for the first food items of the day...corndogs! Yum! We then trekked through all the animal buildings (makes me miss those days) before stopping at the Dairy Bar for some mozzarella sticks and mom got a milkshake. I also had to get my "splurge" of the day...a deep fried milky way! mmmmmm So good! :) We hopped on the fair shuttle and made a full lap. I love doing that. We have done that every year and it's fun to see the entire fair from another perspective. You can't beat it for $0.75 per person. haha Once we made the full lap back around, we hopped off and walked a bit before jumping on another shuttle and riding halfway around to take the north tunnel back to the infield. It was definitely hot and sticky today since we had a storm over night. Ugh! We needed the rain, but I can live without this horrible humidity.

Day 128

Okay, a bit of a recap of my weekend so far...

Yesterday (Friday) I had plans to meet up with my childhood friend, Bridget. When she got to the restaurant, I was also pleasantly surprised to see her brother, Adam, with her. I have known these 2 nearly my whole life. So many fun memories! Even though we "see" each other around town quite often, we normally don't get time to sit & chat. It was a fun lunch catching up on all the news. :)

Last night I decided I had enough of the not sleeping routine...so I bought a sleep-aid to take. I am happy to report that it worked!! I slept 8 glorious, uninterrupted hours and even went back to sleep another 1.5 hours after initially waking up. I feel so much better today! It's amazing what a little sleep can do for a person. haha (And  yes, I plan to take it again tonight!)

Today has been a busy, busy day around here! (much to Toby's dismay..he would prefer to sleep 23 hours a day) I have cleaned the house (dusted & vacuumed), did a couple loads of laundry & put it away, re-organized my filing cabinet, backed up my laptop on the external HD, took inventory of my Scentsy products to prepare for the open house in a few weeks, threw away a bunch of old stuff out of the fridge & deep freezer, exercised, and even ran around awhile in the yard with Toby while mom grilled dinner. I checked a bunch of stuff off my To Do list, even though there are several more to finish this weekend.

Kya watching Toby...she'd love to eat him I think! ha

mmmm...steaks!

Hope you're all having a great weekend so far!

Day 127

5QF - 8/5

August! What??? How did we get here already?!? I guess it's true what they say...time goes faster the older you get! ha If I could get some sleep, I wouldn't mind it so much, but alas...that doesn't seem to be in the cards.

For this week's weight loss update....*drumroll please*...I lost .2 pounds! haha It's not much, but it's a loss. I am pleased with that since I didn't exercise at all except for last Friday. I have been too tired to do anything. I'm hoping that changes after this weekend!

And on to the fun of Five Question Friday! Hop over to My Little Life & join us! One of my questions was once again chosen for this week's linky.

- - -

1. Do you have any siblings & are you close with them?

If you've been reading my blog for any amount of time...you'd know that yes, I have a younger sis. We are very close. As much as we are different from one another, we also share some similarities. I am glad that we've gotten closer as we've "grown up." Sure we still fight. Oh boy do we still fight! haha For the most part though, we enjoy spending time together and bouncing life's ideas off each other.

2. Would you rather be slightly UNDER weight or slightly OVER weight?

Seeing as how I've been overweight nearly my entire life (heavier than most kids by the 4th grade, but not really overweight until junior high), I would be okay with being slightly over weight. I am working to slim down, but I already know that I don't ever want to be "sickly" thin. I'm sure you know the type! I know a girl that did the lap band and she looks freaky now because she has lost TOO much weight. She doesn't even look like herself, which I guess is the point, but to be totally unrecognizable?!? To each his own. I know I'm never gonna be skinny, so a little extra padding will be okay. ha

3. What's your favorite State Fair food to splurge on?

Oh my! What don't I like to splurge on? ha This year will be a test as it's my first time to be conscious of what I'm eating while at the fair. Mom and I are going up Sunday to the Great Indiana State Fair! :) I definitely plan to have a deep fried candy bar. Those have been my fave ever since they came out! I was working at the State Fair that year and let's just say, we had more than 1 that summer. ha

4. What are your thoughts on your kid(s) going to school in a few weeks?

No kids for me, but I would think it would be nice to have them back in school and back on a schedule. Maybe that's the OCD side of me. haha

5. Pool or ocean?

You would think after all the HOURS upon HOURS of Shark Week I've watched, that I would say pool. Don't get me wrong, I love the pool and wish we had one because I'd swim every single day. There is nothing like the ocean though! I love swimming in the ocean, especially snorkeling, and getting to see a different part of our world. I've been in the ocean in some of the most amazing places in the world...the Great Barrier Reef and Cozumel. GORGEOUS!

Day 126

Today was the start of Scentsy's annual convention...I really wanted to attend, but since I just joined at the end of May, it really wasn't an option for me (due to vacation days & already planned trips). This year Scentsy is doing something they've not done before and given those of us not in attendance a chance to feel like we are there! That's right...we have special links to view specific sessions LIVE! How awesome is that?!? This morning (while I was at work...hmmm) I watched the opening session of convention on my computer. My senior director encouraged us to take a picture of ourselves watching convention...so I did! haha
