A Busy Life

I know I keep saying it, but honestly I can't seem to stay ahead of the game! The days are flying by are warp speed.

It feels a bit like this...

...but I'm trying to remember this...

My days are spent huddled over my computer at work. As soon as I leave work, there seems to be an endless list of things to do. I've been busy!! I love a busy life, but it's been awhile since I've been THIS busy. ha As I approach my 30's, I'm learning that I cannot go go go like before! I am not getting as much sleep, but I hope to remedy that next week when I am here! My evenings have been spent trying to get ready for the upcoming trip, spending time with AxMan (and his girls when he has them), doing stuff around the house, and helping my Scentsy team. Craziness.

On another note, if you'd like a cute (and fun) read...I grabbed the first one for free on the Amazon Kindle Books Bestsellers list and bought the second one after reading the first.

Fifty Shades

This post is a quick recap for my thoughts on the Fifty Shades of Grey trilogy.

I had seen twitter posts and had heard a little about the book awhile back, but honestly didn't pay much attention to it. No one really said what it was about, they just kept posting that the book blew their minds and they were unsure of how to feel. I thought that was a bit dramatic, so I just kept ignoring all the talk and didn't even look up the book. My good friend, O, and I were texting last week and she mentioned in her last text that she would forward me her copy of the Fifty Shades of Grey trilogy...that I MUST read it. She said she started out shocked, but that the books were great. I said okay, send 'em and I'll give it a go. (And if you have the kindle app...I'd be glad to forward you these 3 books!)

Holy smokes.

I. HAD. NO. IDEA. I seriously still hadn't read even the book synopsis before I started reading this series. haha I am not going to say I was shocked about the book material itself (can't lie...I read smut books all the time), but I was surprised that the people who I'd seen talking about it had read it. ;) It's a book that borders the edge of so many boundaries...but it's intriguing, gritty, and thought provoking. It makes you look at unconditional love in a new way. For someone like me (who's never truly 100% been in love with someone) and by all accounts is a "good girl" it made me look back on relationships I've had with a new insight and it makes me even more ready to move forward into a relationship. And not, not for the sex...although, does anyone really complain about having it good in that department? haha Some of the situations the book delves into were eerily like my real life (and no, not gonna share which ones), but it still leaves me at a loss as to whether or not I show that same unconditional love. I have always thought I'd be able to, but it scares me that I might not have it in me. Ana was patient and gave Christian the benefit of the doubt. I feel like I've tried to do that in one of my relationships, but I don't think I'm strong enough to maintain that for the long haul. Just one of the many thoughts I had while reading the book.


All in all, I would highly suggest everyone to read these books. If you read a synopsis and think you really can't handle it, then that's your choice, but I couldn't put the books down. I read all 3 in about 4 or 5 days.

Day 153

I haven't talked about my Kindle in awhile...but I tell ya, I use it ALL the time. I read every day during my lunch (it's only 20 minutes but I read the entire time!) and I try to read at least 1 night a week. Tonight I am charging my Kindle. Can't remember the last time I actually had to do that! I love the battery life!! :) So here's to more happy reading! (I usually download the FREE Bestseller books on Amazon's Kindle List, but if one is really good and I'm hooked on the series, I'll buy the rest! ha)

For the Love of a Good Book

I am a reader. I always have been. Our house has been a veritable library since the day I learned to read. I am lucky because my parents indulged my love of reading. I had the complete series of the Boxcar Kids, The Babysitters Club, Sweet Valley Twins (from elementary thru the college books), John Grisham, and pretty much anything else I could get my hands on.

I'm a fast reader. I fly through stacks of books. That's both good and bad! I've read so many books I couldn't even begin to count....and thus knowledge and new words have become part of my life. I also have spent a sum of money I don't even want to think about on books! :p

For awhile I traded books with some of my mom's friends and even dare I say it, the step-witch!

Now I am in on a big craze, e-readers! I got an Amazon Kindle for Christmas and it is probably one of my favorite gifts EVER. I mean E-V-E-R.


There are now features that allow you to "loan" your Kindle library to friends who have Kindle for PC, Kindle for Blackberry, Kindle for Android, Kindle for iPod/iPhone, or just plain ol' Kindle. ha So, if you have the Kindle app downloaded on your computer (I did before I got my Kindle and loved it!) or you have one of the other options and would like to borrow a book sometime, let me know! I'd be happy to loan it to you.

I'm a constant watcher of the Amazon Free Bestsellers List to download books and somehow always get caught up in series book. I tend to like funny mysteries with a romantic twist. Case in point, check out the books below that I highly recommend for a light read! (Oh & did I mention the last few series I've read included recipes for all the goods they "make" in the book? Score!)

Books, Books, & More Books

I LOVE to read...I have always been the kid who could sit anywhere and completely immerse myself in a book. My cousin, Monica, and I trade books fairly often because we both enjoy reading. The past year or so we've really been into vampires. haha It sounds funny, but there are quite a few good series out there. Not the deep, dark, twisted stories, but the light-hearted romantic comedy with some drama. ;)

There is a great series by Michele Bardsley about a group of people turned vampires in Broken Heart, OK. We have read all the ones that are out for now...I hate having to wait for the latest book in a series! haha


I also enjoyed the Twilight series. :) Hasn't the world? ha


There is a series about witches and warlocks by a pair of authors, Nancy Holder and Debbie Viguie, that's really interesting. It's called Wicked. It fits in right along with Twilight and Harry Potter. haha


I recently started the Sookie Stackhouse series by Charlaine Harris (on the recommendation of the Wal-Mart book stocker)...and they are AWESOME. I've read the first eight! Just flew through them. :p I'm waiting for the ninth book to come out in paperback, but I may break down and buy it in hardback. haha The tenth book comes out next month and the eleventh book comes out next May. The HBO series True Blood is based on these books. I haven't seen the show yet, but several of my friends are addicted to the show AND books!


And now that I'm waiting to finish that vampire series, I've switched over to the series by Emily Giffin (after seeing it on Rajean's friend Missy's blog). Very good book so far (I'm half way through the first book), but at the same time a little depressing. I say depressing because it hits a little close to home for me! For those who have read it or go look up the synopsis, NO I am not interested in an engaged guy...ha...BUT the guy I like does have a gf, it's a long complicated sordid story that makes me feel like crap (and no we're not "seeing" each other, but we do still talk which is self-destructive) and I am nearing the 30 mark SINGLE while the rest of my friends are engaged/married/having babies. So the feelings and thoughts the character in the book has, are a little too real. Oh well...still a good read!


I also have another series waiting to go when I finish this current set, so I'll let you know when I get to 'em! ha

Also, if anyone's interested in them...let me know. My books are lightly used, no dog ear pages, and I will probably post them for a VERY reasonable price on Ebay in the near future. (Monica still has to read a few of them before I'll post them.)
