Jeesh.
While in Australia, I heard several words/phrases...OVER AND OVER AND OVER.
Crikey!
Crikey moses! (Pete's favorite..ha)
Bloody (as in, "that bloody thing" or "bloody hell" etc)
Chockers (means full-on crazy, packed, etc)
Lovely (EVERYTHING is lovely...weather, people, clothes)
Mum (mom)
I also experienced many firsts:
-international travel
-plane rides longer than 4 hours (had 2-8hr, 1-16.5hr, 1-15hr)
-poisonous snake in it's habitat
-wallabies, koalas, kangaroos, penguins in their habitats
-navigating airports & cities on my own (have always flown with others)
-vegemite (ick!)
-motion sickness
-snorkeling (on the Great Barrier Reef no less...talk about amazing!)
-seeing the Pacific Ocean, Indian Ocean, & Tasman Sea
-hiking in the Blue Mountains and Dandenong Ranges
-walking on a black sand beach
-watching cricket (it's on the tv there ALL the time, I finally understand it!)
-riding in a car on the "wrong" side of the road and on the wrong side of the car ;)
It was also funny to see common commercials here in the States on TV in Australia, but having a different voice-over! They change them to have Australian accents, but it's still the same person as here. Very funny. Karissa noticed it when they were back in the States this past year and I noticed it while traveling in Sydney. We discussed the fact that it's quite clever...it saves the company money by not having to redo the ENTIRE commercial, just the voice.
I'm sure I've forgotten something...but those are the big ones!
Love the updates about your trip! It sounds like you had a great time!!
