Lots of Updates

There are a few new posts today, so be sure to keep scrolling down! :)

Oh Fall, How I Love Thee!

FINALLY...my favorite time of the year! I love fall. No, not love...LOVE. If it were like this year round, I would be a happy camper. :) Seriously. I love the sunshine, but I don't want it hot...high 60's up to mid 70's is more than warm enough for me. I like cool, crisp mornings. I love the smell of harvest. I like wearing jeans and a tshirt. I cannot get enough of football season! And of course, I love when the leaves start to change....now if only we could capture all of these things for the entire year and not just for a short period of time!

For the first time in my life, one thing I do not like about the approaching fall weather is that I am experiencing sinus/allergy colds. I've always had allergies...and a lot of them...but never the sinus problems that all my friends complain about. So far I've had this same bout of sinus problems two times since the beginning of August. This time I am managing a little better as I am combating it with actual sinus medication. I just hope it doesn't continue affecting me.

Yesterday, I got to experience a few of my loves for the first time this fall!

Ahhhh....yes. Jen and I returned to our "home" and attended a Purdue Football game. It was a great day to be a Boilermaker and cheer they guys on to a W! I always love returning to campus. It just makes me feel so content and happy. It always feels like coming home. haha

We had great seats, minus the crotchety old alums and townies that refuse to stand or cheer on our team! GRRR But that is another story, for another day! It definitely pays to be a John Purdue Club member and a Lifetime Alumnus member. I love my alma mater! I've bled black and gold since the day I was born, and I always will. Boiler Up!

One thing I love about my Mary Kay business is that I've learned so many tricks from professional makeup artists! I'll be the first one to admit that I do not get all glammed up every day of the week. Sure, I wear full makeup, but not photo worthy makeup. And yes, there is a HUGE difference.

Some local Mary Kay units had the opportunity to show off our own skills and get Before and After pictures taken. As I said when I first saw the pictures....if there was ever an advertisement for what Mary Kay can do for you, it would be these pictures! haha I know how scary I look without makeup on, which is why you will rarely catch me out and about without it on. :p

Thought I'd share a few of the pictures...you be the judge. And if you know of anyone needing help with wedding or special event makeup, please send them my way! ;)

Mom turns the Big 5-0!

On Wednesday, Sept. 1st, mom joined the ranks of the "Over the Hill" crowd. hahaha Yep, she turned 50. Her milestone birthday was marked with lots of fun events!

Wednesday - She arrived to work with black streamers and black balloons and a big Happy Birthday banner draping her work area! ;) (thanks to the birthday fairies, Mike & Bonnie...Mike was happy to repay the kindness of his 50th birthday!) That night, I treated her to dinner at The Grub Co. and her friend Debbie joined us.

Friday - Jenna came home for the weekend and we met her in Greensburg for another birthday dinner at El Reparo.

Saturday - After our trip to Gatlinburg, Zach (mom's nephew) told her he was going to treat her to a birthday meal at Sakura in Lawrenceburg. (Japanese Hibachi grill is seriously my new FAVE!) So, 13 of us met up for dinner that evening and enjoyed a great meal and fun company!

By this point....mom really thought the birthday celebrations were over. Little did she know, the big surprise was still coming! :)

The NEXT Friday night, Sept. 10th, I told her I needed a guest for a Mary Kay event. Luckily, she agreed to go with me, thanks to a little nudging from our family friend/my MK Director, Vonda. We arrived to our usual meeting spot and headed in...to a big ole Surprise Party!! We had about 50 family and friends there to enjoy a catered meal and some yummy birthday cake! It was so much fun surprising her. She had absolutely NO idea, which made it even better. :) Jen and I were so happy we pulled it off! haha

Here's a few pics of mom's birthday celebrations!
