Thursday, September 5: Pass on some useful advice or information you learned and always remembered.
I think the best advice I've ever been given was to take advantage of every opportunity. I was (still am) the type that is always looking forward to the "next step." Sometimes that next step doesn't show itself as quickly as we would like.
I had been living on my own for a few years in Indy and when that job opportunity ended, I moved back home to work for my cousin which coincidentally led me to manage a local golf course for a family friend. I learned a lot while doing that job, but the winters were terrible as the golf course was closed (it's Indiana folks). The first winter I sat on the couch like a lump on a log...watching tv, playing with my dog, and being a bum. The next year I decided I needed to do something with myself during those down months. Everyone at the golf course kept telling me to take advantage of the fact that I was single and young! So while I worked long hours from March-November, I saved up all the money I could and spent Nov-Dec traveling Australia (with side trips to Auckland and Hong Kong)! It was soooooooooooooo much fun. And should you care to go back through the archives, you can find those posts. I am so glad my co-workers and patrons encouraged me to do it...and had the invite from my friend who had moved to land of Oz.
So - take advantage of time and places. You never know where it will lead you! :)

I'm so glad you did that, too! Australia beats sitting on the couch watching TV by like a million times! ;o) I say every chance you get to travel, you should jump on it! It's not like those sorts of opportunities come along every day!
