Confession

I have a confession to make....I am not very exciting. Like, barely at all.

Everyone is posting all these fun 4th of July posts and I have nothing to share. Nada. Wanna know why? Well, let me tell you.

I had to work. Yep, you read that right. We were originally scheduled to work 4 - 10 hour days (M, Tu, Th, F). On Tuesday, a few pains in my side at work decided to complain about a day off in the middle of the week. Yeah, no shit Dick Tracy. Just about every local place did the same schedule. Brilliant time to change your minds that you don't like it. They convinced the boss man to change the schedule (I was the only person opposed to it...not really, it's just that they harped on the 1 other person until he relented). So instead of enjoying a day at home relaxing with my mom and boyfriend, I had to sit at work...bored to tears. I actually almost fell asleep at my desk in the afternoon. I wish I were kidding, but falling forward towards my desk woke me up. *shaking my head* I was not exactly the nicest person yesterday. Can you blame me?? So now I have Friday off, but guess what...my loved ones will be at work! What a bunch of crapola. And yes, I did tell off the 2 people who started the griping and got the boss to change the schedule. It did make me feel slightly better. ha

Last night I left job #1 and stopped to pick up AxMan at his place. He went with me so I could do payroll at job #2. (I had a dentist appointment Monday night when I would have normally done it and Tuesday we had other plans as well...oh and I kinda forgot! ha) After finishing up there, I rode with him to go collect money from a side job he'd done. He loves landscaping and he trimmed hedges for a lady who always has him do it every year. On the way back home, he decided that he didn't feel like eating in, so he took me out to dinner. And yes, sadly that is only like our 3rd official date out somewhere. haha I introduced him to a local restaurant that my family loves (some family friends own it), Crossroads, and he liked it as well! Not many places left in the world where you can go eat big, hearty, homemade meals for $17 for 2 people.

We went back to his apartment and he decided to put away a few more boxes of stuff that he had started on earlier in the day while I was at work. I promptly fell asleep on the loveseat. For 2 hours. hahahaha Seriously. I'm a terrible date. He took me out to dinner and to thank him, I fell asleep on his couch while he cleaned. Ummmm...jeez. We won't be winning any awards for most exciting couple anytime soon! ;)

So although my holiday didn't start out too great (getting up at 4:30am to be at work by 6 is less than thrilling and obviously quite exhausting), it ended pretty great...including a late night bowl of ice cream. :p

And now I'm enjoying another lovely and boring day at work. Thankfully it's the last one of the week! 5.5 hours left to go...... #countdown

Day 272

I was exhausted ALL day. I mean the "could barely function" exhaustion. I woke up and left my sister's apartment when she left for work. Stopped for some breakfast...I really do love Hardee's cinnamon raisin biscuits. Yum. :) I made the 1 hour drive home, where I immediately went to the excavating office to do the weekly payroll. I came home and slept for about an hour. I would have slept longer, but mom woke me up when she called to see if I had made it home. ha I couldn't go back to sleep then (don't ya just hate that? ugh!), so I had a burrito for lunch and snuggled on the couch with Toby for the rest of the afternoon. I was feeling really sleepy again later in the day, so I crawled back in bed and napped for about an hour while Toby crawled all over me. Then it was dinner time...and after that I had to motivate myself to do some work for my mom's work. Each year they do an end of the year inventory of the store where she works, and those inventory sheets have to be extended (accounting codes, totaling, etc). I have done this job for years and years and years...and wasn't planning on it this year, but mom's boss changed his mind and sent papers home for me to work on. I think I re-totaled the first page 5 times because I kept getting different numbers! ha After that, I seemed to get it together and managed to crank out the first pile. Fingers crossed, they turn out right! ;)

Day 265

Oh my gosh! I just realized...I only have 100 days left in my Project 365 challenge. It doesn't seem possible that it's been going on this long and although 100 sounds like a big number, I know how fast the days have been flying by, so it'll be over before I know it. And I'll be thankful I have picture proof of my life on fast forward!

So today we had the Christmas lunch at work...once again another work thing I had to plan. :) We had fried chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, corn, coleslaw, and rolls. Yum! Each employee was asked to provide a dessert...and let me tell you...we were all a bit glutinous considering we had about 15 desserts on the table! haha

Day 260

Oh happy day...I made TWO trips to Greensburg today. 1 to get my nails done and the other to pick up the cookies and cupcakes for the work Christmas party AND to have dinner with mom.

Day 259

Got the last of the gifts wrapped and have the tables set up for Santa's visit on Saturday! I am so glad to be done wrapping gifts. I may rebel and buy a gift bag for the last item I need to wrap at home. haha

Day 249

Now that the Children's Christmas Party for my work is quickly approaching...I'm in gift-wrapping hell. Have you ever had to wrap 119 gifts? No. Then shut it. ha This is my second year doing it and I'm OVER it. I've done it for a few hours and have managed to knock out a very, very small portion of the gifts.

Day 236

Um, how the heck have I gone nearly 2 weeks without blogging?!? Yowzers! Sorry friends. :( Time to play catch up! Hopefully someone will end up all the way down at this post...ha...

Tuesday we had our Thanksgiving meal at work. I'm always in charge of the preparations. No fancy decorations. Just lots of table space! ha We enjoyed a catered meal from a local restaurant, Lil Charlie's. They have become our go-to place since they allow us to pick 3 different meals and then our employees can pick the meal they want. It makes for happier employees! ha

Day 224

Where do I even begin on today's events? hmmm... It was cold. It was exhausting. It reiterated all the things I dislike about the company I work for (although it's a good company, they do some stupid things).

For starters, I am in charge of planning and carrying out the details for our company's Children's Christmas Party. The company is pretty great about giving back to it's workers. Any child and/or grandchild (ages 12 and under) of all employees is invited to see Santa, get a present, and have some snacks at a party just for them. Cool, right? Yeah, I thought so too. That is until I was put in charge and had to spend my whole work day (plus, 1 hour) shopping for said toys. ARGH! Do you know how hard it is to find toys for 121 kids???? Just try it. ha I am guessing you'll be as exhausted, impatient, and irritated as I was at the day's end! Each age range gets split into male and female. The same gift is bought for each child within that division. Sometimes it is nearly impossible to find 20 identical gifts...at one store! After hitting up 2 Toys R Us stores, a Hobby Lobby, having lunch and making our way home...we are still NOT done. I am thankful my mom took a vacation day at her work to go with me!

Tonight after getting home a mere 11 hours after leaving this morning (ugh), I still had 2 more newly delivered Scentsy boxes to sort, label, and put away. My drawers of scent bars get so disheveled after each event, so tonight I made it a point to sort them the right way instead of just throwing them in the drawers. (yes, I'm OCD...deal with it! ha) My floor looked like a wax bar explosion! I am happy to say, everything is sorted and put away where it belongs...which means it is ready for Saturday. Yes, I have yet ANOTHER event.

And last but not least, some of you may remember (are you reading this, Missy, it's just for you!) that I talked about a "miracle" product that cleared up my terribly plaguing acne. I also mentioned that I may be allergic to it. I think it is safe to say that I am not allergic, but it will dry out your skin - EXTREMELY. I guess I should have paid attention to the detail that said to start out using it once a day and slowly build to twice a day. Whoops! ha I had to back off to using the cleanser once a day and I have not used the lotion since the weekend ended. I have decided to only use it if I see a breakout starting to appear. Note to all: remember that if you have oily skin, it is imperative for you to use moisturizer...and do not skimp!! If you do not give your skin the moisture it needs, it will produce more oil (oh joy, huh?) to make up for it. So without further ado (and no, I am not being paid for this endorsement, although if someone has a connection, I'd love to get Neutragena to throw me some benjamins! haha)......I give you my miracle products! Goodbye acne, I've lived without you for 6 days and that includes through Aunt Flo's monthly visit. PRAISE THE LORD! :)

Day 118 & Warmer Wednesday

Okay, be warned...this is gonna be a hodge podge post, but it has been a fuh-reakin' CRAZY day! Seriously. Oi. Where to start?

First of all, each Wednesday Scentsy posts a "Warmer of the Day" on Facebook. I am going to start sharing that here every Wednesday. Today is was the Over the Moon warmer, which is a midsize. Then at work, I had to fill the pop machine (my LEAST favorite job of all). When I was filling the machine, one of the Mt. Dew cans decided to spew, not just trickle out of the can or one spray but explode, all over the place. It ended up all over the inside of the pop machine, all over me, all over the floor, and all over the fridge which is across from it. Ugh. I had a wet shirt and pants for almost 3 hours. I was not happy. NOT HAPPY. I don't even drink pop out of the machine, or rarely ever, so I was cussin' a blue streak! Then at lunch, I dropped some of the marinara from my meal on my shirt. Really? I mean...REALLY?!? I was so ready for the day to be over! Argh.

The first thing I did when I got home was go check the trap our cousin Tom placed at the corner of the house. We have some sort of critter attempting to burrow under the house (in the corner where mom's bedroom is) and mom thinks it is a badger. We haven't fully seen it, so hoping that it decides to walk into the trap! haha This is an ongoing process for the past few weeks. Good times I tell ya! ha

Tonight I get home from work, change my clothes so I can workout like I normally do...when Toby, my sweet little 3.5 pound teacup yorkie, decided to start throwing up. The second time this week. Only this time, he started falling over afterwards, his legs seized up and he couldn't walk. Then he started violently shaking and tremoring. So we call my vet, who is not answering the phone and doesn't have an emergency number on the phone message. We then call a good family friend who is a vet, and has seen Toby once before, and they tell me to come over and they'll fit me in! Toby and I load up and practically fly to Doc Kraushar's clinic. We get there and he is acting just fine. Of course!?! After a thorough checkup and some bloodwork that they processed at the clinic, we are assuming that Toby had a slight seizure. All his actions point to epilepsy. *sigh* I'm really hoping it was a fluke. Doc thinks that we should watch Toby for the next month and as long as he doesn't have any other "episodes" that there is no need for any further action, i.e. meds. He said for some dogs between the ages of 3-6, they can experience 1 seizure a year. Frightening, but livable. Time will tell what happens...

So that was my day in a nutshell. How ya like them apples? hahaha I'm delirious. It's been a long day. I didn't get my evening workout in, so I'm even more irritable. Yowzers.

Day 20 - ERROR

ARGH! For all except for 2 hours of the day...our company's program server (housed at our sister company) was down. Do you know how boring my day is if I don't have the programs to enter all the reports?!?

I was really tired of seeing this message...



On a side note, the week is half over! Thank goodness!! ha

Jumping Back on the Bandwagon

Well it's been far too long since I exercised on a regular basis...so back on the bandwagon I go!

I restarted the C25K program again. It felt SOOOO good to run again tonight! I still amaze myself. haha I have never been a runner...until this program. I really do enjoy it!

Toby "helped" me exercise. haha He usually gets in my way, but tonight he did a good job of staying out of my path and just watching me, but of course running around to keep up. I thought he'd be really worn out tonight, but he seems to be energized as well! He's been running around playing fetch with his squeaky bone. :p

Today I got back results from my Wellness screening/blood work for my insurance at work. It was a free service provided that would possibly lower my insurance. Most of my results were in the normal range. A few things need to be taken care of, but hopefully getting back into the groove with exercise and watching what I eat (for about 2 months I just ate whatever I wanted...bad, bad, bad! ha) like I have been for the past few weeks...and I should be able to control the other issues. I'm sure if I were smart I'd give the results to my doctor, but I'll check in with him when I get my flu shot (also free thanks to work) and see what he says before I give him the full analysis!

Weekend Follies

And another weekend comes to a close....how is it that time away from work always go so fast?! ha So, on to the details of my fun weekend!

Saturday
The day began nice and early...on a chilly fall day. We loaded up in the Ranger Crew to head to Jennings County for the ATV/Ranger Poker Run benefiting Joy for Giving (charity that provides Christmas to families who wouldn't otherwise have anything). By we, I mean...myself, my cousin Zach, my Aunt Roni, my Uncle Kevin, and my Grandma Menchhofer. We voted to make the ride there and back on the ranger instead of hauling it there. While it was fun to see the countryside, it was also more than a little cool. haha The ride took us a little over an hour for a 40 mile trip. We then enjoyed a nearly 70 mile scenic drive around Jennings County for the poker run. The main sponsor, the Harmon Group (they build steel frame buildings), was awesome and we had a blast! Between all the sponsors and participants, over $7,000 was raised for Joy for Giving! :) Definitely a fun way to spend a Saturday! The ride went from St. Joe's Catholic Church in Hayden, to Commiskey Country Mart in Commiskey, to Butlerville Grocery in Butlerville, to St. Anne's Golf Course on the outskirts of North Vernon, back to St. Joe's. After riding 70 miles on the run, we then enjoyed another 40 mile ride home. Yes, we did drive around in the rain. Thank goodness for a canopy top and a windshield! I don't know why people would spend money on a ranger and not get any amenities! :p The poor people riding ATVs were drenched. We managed to get by with only a little dampness. ;) I'm ready for the next ride...just hope it will be warmer!

Sunday
Today we had a fun treat! My employer, Best Metal Finishing (BMF), and our sister company, Ohio Rod Products (ORP) treated all the employees and their families to a day at the Great American Ballpark to watch the Reds beat the Brewers! We had tickets for the Riverboat Deck which is in center field. The day included a buffet lunch and free drinks (pop & alcohol). It was so much fun! It had been a LONG time since we'd been to a baseball game. I think the last game I'd been to was a Cubs game in the 8th grade. haha And the last Reds game I attended, I believe I was in the 3rd grade.... The game was immensely more exciting than I remember baseball being, which was a good thing! :) It was fun to see the last regular season game and enjoy a day with most of our co-workers and family members. It's pretty awesome to work for such a great company!

It's Official...New Job!

Well, now that I've told my boss, I can tell the rest of the world. haha Good thing I told him this morning because word was on the street by afternoon. Guess that's how it goes in a small town!

I have accepted a position in the office at Best Metal Finishing in Osgood. It's a fairly small plant. You can look 'em up on the web if you're interested. The sister company is Ohio Rod in Versailles. Both are owned by Elgin Fasteners.

I'm excited about the new job opportunity. I love the hours, just wish I had 5 days and not 4! I'm going to keep working at the golf course on Fridays for now (and still do payroll/billing/work scheduling) to help make up the small pay difference. The good news is that I also have insurance now! And 2 weeks paid vacation! :) I think I'm going to like working at Best Metal. I know a few people who work there in the shop and I know the general manager's family pretty well (just not him). haha

And so another journey begins!

From Good to Bad to Worst

The day started off with so much promise.....

The weather has been absolutely perfect. Sun is shining. Cooler temps with a nice breeze.

Then I see status updates from 2 of my cousins and my heart sinks as I already know what I'll hear when I pick up the phone...but I dial mom at work. She tells me the news I feared. My great-uncle, Cletus, passed away this morning. That takes me to sad face #1. Mom tells me to text Jenna and let her know. I know Jen is out enjoying a leisurely breakfast this morning due to later work time and her apartment being renovated. She of course calls and that's when the reality hits me a little more and I have a good cry. Ugh.

I was really hoping to hear from the interview lady at a job I had applied for....I interviewed Sunday night (yes, that's how badly she wanted to meet me!). Went to the hospital and did a pee test on Monday night after work for their pre-employment drug screening. Not 20 minutes after I had tweeted about waiting to hear from her with great anticipation....I got the ding email. It was so impersonal. Sad face #2. Another call to mom. More tears.

This day really sucks.

Praying for an Answer

The last few months have been quite stressful for me. I have been fighting with the feeling that I am not where I am supposed to be. I'm not sure if you've ever felt that way before, but everyone who has, can relate to the stuck feeling. I have applied for multiple positions in the last year and after making it a round or two into the process, I get bumped. It's frustrating. I am either highly overqualified for a job or just need someone to give me a chance to gain the "experience" they think I lack.

Why has it been stressful? Well......maybe because nothing I do seems to be right in the eyes of the man who signs my paycheck. I am either doing too much or not enough. Now I'm supposed to cut my hours, but still do everything I've been doing (plus cleaning up the messes made while I'm not at the course). The real problem is that the weather has been crappy until this point and somehow I'm responsible for the weather and everything that results from that. :(

So at this point, please pray that I find an opportunity that is right for me. I am applying to every open job I can find that even sounds like I have a hint of being hired. I'm willing to work for just about any pay if benefits are involved. (currently I have no insurance or other benefits) I have mostly been looking in the Indy area and around home. If I find something in Indy, I can crash at Jen's for awhile until we can find a bigger place to share or I can find something reasonably priced on my own.

I'm tired of going home and feeling like someone let all the air out of my personality. I dread coming to work...fearing that the boss man will show up and find something else to berate me for. My blood pressure has been on the rise lately, I can feel my blood boiling inside of me.

I'm sending up hourly prayers to make it through each day.

An Update

I'm not sure how long it's been since I last posted....I'd say a week or so?!? Anyway, didn't want anyone to think I'd disappeared! I honestly have not been able to accomplish anything besides work and sleep! And sleep has been sparing...ha (I just haven't been sleeping very well the past month.)

Besides working my normal shifts at the golf course, I have had to stay and train at least 2 nights a week. I can't complain though, those 2 girls will be taking over League nights, so if it means staying and helping for a few hours so in a few more weeks I don't have to stay at all, I can handle that! :p

After work it feels like I get home so darn late! Most nights by the time I sit down to eat dinner, mom and I look at the clock and it's 8-9pm! It's exhausting.

I've had lots of Mary Kay meetings/trainings the past few weeks. I really don't mind those, but some nights I'm really ready just to get home after working all day...and attending a training is the last thing I wanna do, especially if I have to dress up! ha

Tomorrow night I have a Mary Kay party...it's the first one I've been able to book in awhile (I've been trying though!!), so I'm excited about it, even if it does make me have to rush all day and I won't get home until late again. Saturday I'll be in Jeffersonville all day for a Mary Kay training...this one I'm excited about! I won a prize and I'm excited to see what it will be! Linda (my National Sales Director) visited a jewelry store she buys lots of gifts from...so I'm sure it'll be good! :) Sunday mom and I will be meeting Jen in Shelbyville for an early dinner to celebrate Mother's Day. It's nice to have a half way point to meet! Applebee's here we come! haha

I'm exhausted just from typing all that! ha Sadly, it's not even EVERYTHING I have to do, but it's the noteworthy stuff.

Spring is Near

I know we've had warm spells here and there....and the official first day of spring is close (also happens to be the day of my cousin Monica's birthday)...but there is a way I really know spring is close................

I'm not real sure how I feel about it yet. haha Um, let me rephrase that. :p I enjoy working at the golf course, but it seems to take up more and more of my time each year. This year the owner wants to cut back on number of employees and thinks he will be there more (yeah, right)...so I guess once again, I'll have healthy paychecks. Unfortunately, as much as I love the pay and the ability to travel from said paychecks, I am also trying to rebuild my Mary Kay business. This month our team is focusing on finishing 1st month of car production...so I need to be busy doing that!! :) I'm going to have to find a balance this year. I think we'll manage, somehow we always do, but it's going to be tough! I've had to "lay down the law" already about times of the week that I absolutely cannot work due to MK obligations.

The course is not officially open yet, but we will be soon. I started cleaning clubhouse today! I have a little more to do tomorrow since it's supposed to be so nice. Then it sounds like another crummy IN spring rainy weekend....then it's a day by day guess of when we're open or not. haha Ah, I just love it. NOT. ;)

Stay tuned for my Adventures in Managing (much like the movie Adventures in Babysitting!). hahahahaha Seriously. I laugh, but it's not too far from the mark!

MK in the USA

This weekend I attended the Toupin National Area Red Jacket Retreat. We spent the weekend at General Butler State Park in Carrolton, KY. This was my second time attending and I LOVED it! You cannot replace the energy or strategies created at an event like this...it was spectacular. I am feeling very blessed to be a Mary Kay Beauty Consultant. :)

There's lots and lots to tell about the weekend, so many memories were made; however, if you are not in MK, you probably would be bored with most of it. haha Not necessarily, but I'll reveal some of it as the weeks pass because it will require my family and friends support as I continue building my business! ;)

What a Difference a Day Makes

...or 2 years! ha

A few years ago I was working my Mary Kay business the best that I knew how (which was lackluster at best). I thought I had all the answers and truly wasn't following Mary Kay Ash's plan. Fail.

After much success, I had a few setbacks and got discouraged. I took what we jokingly call a "Mary Kay vacation." I only bought product when I absolutely had to in order to remain in the company and was only selling to my mom, my sister, and a few close friends. Not only had I had disappointment, but I was working for the Federal Government and in a terrible work environment. I loved the people I worked with and the pay, but disliked the negativity, long mandatory hours, and the job itself.

Fast forward to November 2009. Vonda (my Director and good friend) asked me how I was feeling about coming back into Mary Kay and really doing the work. Out of the blue, I found myself saying, "Sure, when I get back from Australia." After I said those words, I realized how much I had missed it....the positivity, my friends, and the extra cash. While I was on my Australian adventure, I caught myself wondering if I could really do IT. You know...could I be a success? I started to doubt if I would truly return to MK, but I have only ever used the MK products and I truly believe that through this business, God has bigger plans for me. (I've always believed that...it's been in my dreams since day 1 of becoming a consultant. And for you who don't know, I dream a lot, and my dreams typically come true. It's a little freaky.) When I got back from Oz, I had lunch with Vonda and we talked about the trip and all the crazy moments! :) Once again, before I had time to think, I found myself telling Vonda that I would attend a training coming up in January. Whew, my mouth is really getting me into trouble! I seem to be spewing information before I know what I've done! ha

That brings us to January 2010. WHIRLWIND month. I knew all the mistakes I'd made the first time around. I knew I had to be ready to get to work. So that's what I've been doing...working. I don't know how or when things will happen, I just know they will if I do everything I've been taught to do. So each day I do the "possible"...knowing that at the end of the year, something "impossible" will come to fruition.

I've been holding skin care parties and sharing the opportunity with everyone I know. [If I haven't badgered you...and you don't have a Mary Kay consultant...PLEASE contact me! I still have far too many open dates!! I promise we'll have fun! Right, Kayla & Angie? ;) ] It all started because ONE person said YES to me. Thank you Kayla! Because Kayla held a party, others started booking. Because Kayla said yes to the opportunity, others are following suit.

My theme for the year is commitment. When you are committed, providence moves.

I spent last weekend at a special Mary Kay training. It was a small group that got to spend personal time with our National Sales Director Linda Toupin. If you've never heard her speak, you are missing out! My first thought of her was..."how can I not love everything about a girl from southeastern KY that grew up on a dairy farm and in 4-H?" Being in Linda's space last weekend really changed how I think. Think Abundantly. Dream Big. Work Hard. Pray A LOT. It was eye opening because as mature as I've always been, it was pretty apparent (even to Linda who's known me since 2003 when I became a consultant) that I have truly grown up the past 2 years, more than I thought I had! haha There are no words to explain all that happened in the 9 hours or our group spent together, but trust me when I say it was life changing. Success.

You don't get motivated by sitting around waiting to be inspired. Action breeds motivation.


And if I have completely bored you to tears...thanks for reading along today! Good things are happening. No, strike that...GREAT things are happening. I love my Mary Kay business!

Busy Busy Busy

I cannot believe it is already the 4th day of the new year! Holy cow! I've been keeping busy...per usual! ha

I am back in the office every week for Matt and Jesse. (and they are quite thankful! ha) Now it's time to get their paperwork ready for the accountant...tax time! Luckily, I have my personal stuff ready to go except for my W2's.

Also, I have jumped feet first back into my Mary Kay career! I didn't realize how much I had missed this part of my life until I rejoined the ranks of my favorite people! On that note, I am looking for women to host Mary Kay parties for me! If you would be willing to have a party with your family/friends (I normally travel up to 3 hours away) or would be a Silent Hostess and collect orders from co-workers/family/friends without having a party...please let me know!! :) :)

Alright....I better get off the computer and get back to work! The laundry won't move itself from washer to dryer and definitely doesn't fold itself! :p I also need to see what else I can accomplish on a few newsletters today.
